Shared Financial Services

Shared Financial Services (SFS) is a pilot program of Elevate NP, designed to strengthen the financial foundation of small and midsized nonprofit organizations.

By providing outsourced financial support at three levels — Bookkeeper, Accountant, and CFO — SFS helps organizations maintain stability, improve financial oversight, and make informed decisions with timely, accurate data.

Many small and midsized nonprofits struggle with financial staff turnover and limited access to financial expertise. SFS addresses these challenges by offering a fractional team with specialized knowledge and implementing clearly documented, streamlined processes. Organizations benefit from a scalable, service-oriented approach tailored to their needs.

What makes Shared Financial Services different?

Unlike traditional outsourced accounting firms, SFS is built specifically for the nonprofit sector. Its team provides day-to-day bookkeeping, reconciliations, strategic financial guidance, grant and restricted fund tracking, audit support, and financial reporting. These services equip staff and board leaders to communicate their financial story with confidence. SFS offers flexible, retainer-based service packages with pricing based on process complexity and the selected level of support, including basic finance, strategic finance, and full-service options.

By removing barriers to professional financial expertise, SFS provides nonprofits with stability, efficiency, and financial clarity, ensuring resources are managed effectively. Its work is guided by the core values of equity, efficiency, transparency, integrity, and affordability, reinforcing a commitment to nonprofit sustainability.

SFS is fiscally sponsored by New Sun Rising and serves as a trusted financial partner for a growing network of nonprofit organizations across the region. Learn more about how SFS helps organizations build financial resilience at sharedfinancialservices.org.
